CARMEL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Carmel International School was established in June 2003 owing to the relentless efforts of Rev. Fr Probus Perumalil CMI, the then Superior of St Joseph’s Carmel House, Punnapra. In this visionary endeavour, he was ably assisted by Rev. Fr Antony Kuttiyanickal CMI, who was a Lecturer at Carmel polytechnic College.
Far from the madding crowd, the school is situated in the serene atmosphere of Punnapra, Alappuzha by the side of N.H. 47. The school forms a part of the global educational mission and vision of the CMI Congregation founded by St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, and is owned by St. Joseph’s Carmel Monastery, Punnapra. The School was affiliated to CISCE, New Delhi in the year 2012 (Affl. No. KE 131/2012) and was upgraded to the Higher Secondary level in 2014. It was also granted the status of a Minority Educational Institution by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (Govt. of India) in the year 2014.
Carmel International School follows the curriculum prescribed by the ICSE (The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi.) The course of studies in this school is of 12 years duration (excluding two Pre-Primary classes) and prepares the pupils for the Secondary (ICSE/Std -X ) as well as Senior Secondary level (ISC/Std XII) examinations.
